The RESA 2 National Board Project is funded, through the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, to support teachers in RESA 1, 2 and 6 for the next two years. The support begins with a three day summer institute that brings understanding of the National Board standards, 5 core propositions, portfolio development and assessment center expectations. It continues with monthly support meetings designed to aid candidates in developing the four portfolio entries in their specific content area. Reader/mentors are provided, once candidates make the final commitment in continuing this process, to ensure a more individualize support system through the development of their portfolio. After the portfolio is completed the cohort moves into preparing for the assessment center.
To continue the development of this program, it is the goal that the reader/mentors will be provided additional training through the National Board to aid in the support of potential candidates. All reader/mentors must be National Board Certified to qualify as a reader/mentor. Interested national board certified teachers wishing participate in this program can contact the RESA 2 office below.
