What will I be billed for if RESA 2 repairs equipment at my school?
RESA 2 does not charge any kind of travel fee, visitation fee, or service fee to repair computers that were purchased with state funds from the CBS or SUCCESS bids. RESA 2 may charge a small fee for software services or installation services. Schools will be billed for the cost of replaced parts.
COUNTY CONTRACTS
What is the RESA 2 "Computer Repair Contract"?
RESA 2 has a yearly contract, based on student population, that may be purchased to cover the repair of any IBM compatible machine owned by the county that was not acquired with state funds. Schools will be billed only for the replaced parts. RESA 2 does not provide software support under this contract. For more information please contact Charlie Pitts at 529-6205 Ext 27.
I have computer equipment that was donated, will you fix it?
If we have a contract with your county, we will attempt to fix any computer equipment that is owned by the county or school. It doesn't matter if it was donated as long as it belongs to the school system.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Will my Compaq or IBM warranty be voided if RESA 2 works on my pc?
The answer is NO! RESA 2 technicians are both IBM and Compaq certified. See the sections below for more info. Not sure of your machines status? Check out our warranty info page to see if your machine is under warranty.
IBM WARRANTY
Can you work on my new IBM? Should I call the help desk or RESA 2?
RESA 2 has been an IBM authorized Warranty Repair Center for some years now. What this means is that RESA 2 is authorized to work on ANY IBM desktop or laptop starting from the day it is installed. There are no charges of any kind for warranty service. RESA 2 will provide on-site service on any IBM that is under warranty, or if preferred, machines may be dropped off at our office for service. If you have a county contract, RESA 2 will provide on-site service for all 3 years of the IBM warranty even if it only has a 1 year on site warranty.
NOTE: (You must call RESA 2 and not the WV help desk if you want RESA 2 to do the warranty repairs, as not all RESAs are IBM certified).
HP/COMPAQ WARRANTY
Can you work on my new Compaq? Should I call the help desk or RESA 2?
Any repair requests for a HP/Compaq under warranty will be turned over to Pomeroy unless we are specifically requested to fix the machine.
SOFTWARE SUPPORT
Will RESA 2 load my software for me?
Generally, no. RESA 2 is not responsible for software support under our contract. If we replace a dead Hard Drive we will reload the version of Windows that was on the machine and get the machine in working order. All other software is the end users responsibility.
Software services are available on a per incident fee. Some examples would be to install the Follett library system, Anti-Virus Server, DHCP Server, Proxy Server, or Microsoft NT server. For more information please contact Charlie Pitts at 529-6205 Ext 27
